Dolcoath is often referred to as the Queen of Cornish Mines because of all the mines in Cornwall Dolcoath was the deepest, the most productive and enjoyed the longest period of continuous production. Local people today still say 'as deep as Dolcoath' when referring to a hole or indeed to a person who is deep thinker.
