Veryan is located six miles south east of Truro off the A3078, The swan or mill pond in the middle of the village of Veryan offers some delightful reflections. Around the memorial gardens there are three very welcome seats that are in memory of former parishioners. Tradition has it that the pond that is the central feature of the memorial garden was once a mill pond. A very early mill was thought to be attached to The Domesday manor of Elerkey that included most of the West of Veryan. The word Elerch in Cornish means a swan
