'In memeory of Thomas Flamank and Michael Joseph the smith. leaders of the Cornish Host who marched to London and suffered vengeance there June 1497'

This rebellion of the Cornish in 1497 which Flamank led with Michael An Gof followed the imposition of a tax by Henry VII to subsidise his war against the Scots.

Bodmin is former county town of Cornwall and is situated next to the breathtaking Bodmin moor which includes popular treks to Roughter and Brown Willy. The towns name comes from the Cornish words "bod" (dwelling) and "monegh" (monks). The town is now bypassed by most travellers entering or leaving Cornwall by road or rail.
